Riparian Management Incentive Projects

This project provides incentives to landholders in the Hastings and Camden Haven Catchments to assist them to restore, protect and improve the management of the riparian zones on their property.  The project is funded by the Dept of Agriculture, Fish & Forestry under the NLP Sustainable Practices Grants.

The project aims to:

• Provide increased protection and improved conditions of freshwater and estuarine river systems
• Prevent and control soil erosion
• Reduce off-site sedimentation and improve water quality leaving properties
• Improve livestock management and health
• Identify and engage the community to increase awareness, knowledge, skills and participation in sustainable river management.

In the first round $20,000 was allocated to 5 properties and in the second round the remaining $13,000 was allocated to 3 properties.
